WHAT IS Aristocort/Triamcinolone TABLETS?

TRIAMCINOLONE/Aristocort is a corticosteroid. It helps to reduce swelling, redness, itching, and allergic reactions. This medicine is used to treat allergies, arthritis, asthma, skin problems, and many other conditions. This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

WHERE SHOULD I KEEP Aristocort/Triamcinolone?

Store at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep out of the reach of children and away from pets.

HOW SHOULD I USE Aristocort/Triamcinolone?

Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take with milk or food to avoid stomach upset. For best results, take this medicine at or about 8:00 in the morning. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on your doctor's advice. You may need to gradually reduce the dose.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

WHAT IF I MISS A DOSE?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

WHAT SHOULD I WATCH FOR WHILE USING Aristocort/Triamcinolone?

Visit your doctor or health care professional for regular checks on your progress. If you are diabetic, check your blood sugar as directed. If you are taking this medicine for a long time, carry an identification card with your name, the type and dose of medicine, and your doctor's name and address.

You may need to be on a special diet while taking this medicine. Talk to your doctor.

Do not come in contact with people who have chickenpox or the measles while you are taking this medicine. If you do, call your doctor right away.

WHAT MAY INTERACT WITH Aristocort/Triamcinolone?

Do not take this medicine with any of the following:

  • mifepristone
  • vaccines and other immunization products
  • aspirin
  • other steroid medicines

This list may not describe all possible interactions. Give your health care providers a list of all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you use. Also tell them if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Some items may interact with your medicine.

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS MAY I NOTICE FROM Aristocort/Triamcinolone?

Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:

  • seizures
  • frequent passing of urine
  • rounding of face
  • dizziness
  • menstrual problems
  • confusion, depression, excitement, mood swings
  • high blood pressure
  • allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
  • increased thirst
  • unusual bruising or red pinpoint spots on the skin
  • swelling of feet, hands
  • fever, infection, sores that do not heal
  • unusually weak or tired
  • pain in back, hips, shoulders, ribs
  • stomach pain
  • black, tarry stools
  • change in vision
  • breathing difficulty

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):

  • trouble sleeping
  • headache
  • unusual increased growth of hair on the face or body
  • increased sweating
  • upset stomach, nausea

WHAT SHOULD I TELL MY HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS BEFORE I TAKE Aristocort/Triamcinolone?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

  • diabetes
  • osteoporosis
  • depression, anxiety, or psychotic disturbances
  • infection, like tuberculosis, herpes, or fungal infection
  • stomach or intestine disease
  • liver disease
  • seizures
  • breast-feeding
  • thyroid disease
  • an unusual or allergic reaction to triamcinolone/Aristocort , corticosteroids, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
  • pregnant or trying to get pregnant
  • previous heart attack

What is the shelf life of the pills?

  • The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
